Cue another saxophone

In response to Miriam...

As I was reading Relativity, Chapter XXI caught my eye. I found it interesting that Einstein would put a critique of his theory in the book, but even more interesting that he doesn't seem to prove the critique wrong (unless I am mistaken in interpreting the chapter, which is very possible). To me it sounds like mechanics isn't changed due to relativity. Therefore I am wondering what its significance is in my every day life, or whether its significance only lies in pure scientific knowledge.
