Inertia

I am struggling to understand the difference between Galileo's understanding of inertia and Newton's understanding of it. Can we please go over the two conceptions of inertia in contrast to each other? I think that when Newton uses the term, he is talking about the idea that bodies in motion tend to stay in motion, but I'm not sure how that differs from what Galileo mean by inertia.
