More on astrolabes

The site www.astrolabes.org contains a lot of useful information on the history and use of astrolabes. This is the homepage of the guy who makes the cardboard astrolabes I brought into class yesterday -- in case you want to get one for yourself...

The same website also has a DOS (yes, DOS) program to simulate an astrolabe. It runs fine on my Mac in DOSBox (an emulator that also runs on Windows).

This website has a Java astrolabe that you can experiment with.

I have put the two astrolabe books on 2-hour and overnight reserve at Hesburgh Library.
